President

Ben is a fourth-year Kinesiology student at the University of British Columbia, where he studies human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, health, and nutrition. He is also pursuing a Minor in Commerce and currently works as a personal trainer and fitness class instructor at UBC.

Throughout Ben’s childhood, he has developed a strong passion for food ever since watching his first cooking show on Food Network. In high school, Ben had the opportunity to learn culinary arts, baking, and pastries from Chef Vanessa Lee, a professor at VCC, who had started a high-level culinary arts program at Ben’s high school. Upon graduation, Ben would continue his culinary journey by working at Dr. Greg’s Superchefs program, a non-profit organization, that aims to empower children in the battle against childhood obesity by teaching the essentials of balanced nutrition, food preparation, and physical and social well-being.

Ben has also embarked on numerous humanitarian aid trips over the last 7 years by going on yearly summer trips to Kitamaat, a First Nations village in BC, and a trip to India back in 2017. Ben has always had a desire to encourage and help those that may not have accessible means to experience STEAM first-hand. So Ben has made it his goal to make Flavourful Science a welcoming environment that hopes to empower and inspire all who are wanting to learn more about STEAM through food!
